I hope you enjoyed my latest post – my trip to Yingge and Sanxia, Taiwan. If you haven’t read it yet, you should!
I can’t really call this post ‘Teaching’ in Hsinchu as I’ve spent most of the week in bed, but there we go.
Monday was lovely – I had an interview at a fantastic school and everyone I met was fantastic. It was the kind of school that made me wish I had a PGCE. I had to be up at 6 for an hours commute, so by the time I finished at 11 I was nearly asleep.
Kimm and I met up near the river and we walked around with little Gwen in her stroller. She was sooooo cute today giggling and trying to walk. It was lovely!
Work was alright. 4.5 hours of teaching almost seems like a lot when I only teach for 3 on the other days. However, Monday’s classes are all older, slightly better behaved students so it went well and we managed to have a good laugh.
I didn’t feel right at all, and put it down to the lack of sleep, but by the time I got home I knew it wasn’t going to end well. I was in pain, I felt sick, hot and cold at the same time. I curled up under the covers and prayed it would go away…
But it didn’t. So I’ve spent the last 5 days in a lot of pain, sweats, colds, tears, etc. Such drama. It’s been awful, especially with no one to help.
On Friday, half an hour before my bus I managed to drag myself out of bed and head to work. I wish I hadn’t because I felt nauseous and still had a lot of pain in my lower body. I made it through my classes, thankfully my little ones were adorable and we had a great class, but the older ones were harder to entertain. I think they could see I wasn’t well, but it didn’t mean they behaved better.
I clocked out as soon as I could and got the bus home, dived under the covers and barely moved for the following 14 hours. Surfacing sometime around 11 o’clock this morning.
I tried to go for a little walk this morning but half an hour in I thought I was going to be sick, and grabbed the next bus home. So I put my pyjamas back on and have spent the day napping, reading, drawing and applying for new jobs.
And now, for my favourite thing in the world – football.
I hope tomorrow I’ll be well enough to go out, as I’ve downloaded a fantastic itinerary for a train journey right on my doorstep.
Sorry for the lack of new adventures this week guys, I’ll be back in a few days!
Lots of love xo
